Governor Information

Pelham LAC

Chair - Father Gareth Bowen

My name is Father Gareth Bowen, I am the Vicar of Saint Martin’s Church of England Church in Erith Road, Barnehurst.

I am married to Julie, who is also a Vicar, but in Bromley, she is also the Chaplain to Saint Olave’s School, in Orpington. Julie and I have two sons, Joshua who is a teacher in Greenwich and Gwynfor who is a doctor in Cheltenham.

You might see me walking with a stick, this is because I broke my back in a parachuting accident in 1989. Before I was ordained, I was in business from the age of 22, importing and exporting Coffee, and Coffee Machines.I am also a Governor of Saint Augustine’s Primary School, in Belvedere.

If you see me around Pelham School, please just call me Father Gareth and you can always talk with me. I believe that part of my role as a Governor here is to be present to support the School, All Staff, Pupils, and Parents.

Vice Chair - Mr J Ward

Growing up in Bexleyheath and being supported by my schools encouraged me to grow into the person I am today. I have a background in scientific research, but I have transitioned to the educational sector in the past few years. I believe it's of such importance to educate our young members of society about the wonders of science and to encourage the joy of lifelong learning. I became a governor as a way to give back to the local community and contribute in a way I feel most passionate about: supporting our young people during this critical time of intellectual and personal growth.

Parent - Mrs B Conkova

As a devoted parent of children at the school, I am committed to ensuring a positive experience for all students and improving the school environment. I actively volunteer for various charities and in the school's parent association. My professional and volunteer roles have involved organising events, participating in school fundraisers, and collaborating with diverse groups, honing my communication and teamwork skills. These experiences have motivated me to seek a role on the School Advisory Committee to contribute to the betterment of our educational community.

I am eager to work with committee members, school staff, and parents to address challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the school's strategic planning. Additionally, I am a second-year student in health and social care, reflecting my passion for making a positive impact on people's lives.

Staff - Miss Robinson

Having recently joint the Pelham Primary team and witnessing first-hand the incredible impact our collective efforts have on the pupils, I am excited to be part of the governing body and having a role in shaping the school's future. As a member of staff, I am deeply invested in the success and well-being of our students, staff, and the wider school community.  I have been teaching for six years and have held numerous roles. I have been maths lead, Joint Development Lead, Year Five/Six lead, as well as a class teacher. I am currently relishing the challenge of being Assistant Headteacher with the role of raising standards. By being apart of the governing body, I am able to offer my perspective, experience, and commitment to help ensure that the school continues to thrive and develop in the best possible way.

Head of School -Ex-officio - Mrs K Anderson-Vilardell
